Will Eisner was a pioneering American cartoonist, writer, and entrepreneur, widely regarded as the father of the graphic novel. Creator of The Spirit and author of A Contract with God, Eisner elevated comics into a respected storytelling medium through his innovative layouts, emotional depth, and lifelong advocacy for the art form. The prestigious Eisner Awards are named in his honor.
